RICHLAND CREEK DAM
Paulding County, Georgia
Piedmont Geotechnical Consultants (PGC) performed the geotechnical field explorations, engineering evaluations and preparation of engineering reports addressing the geotechnical aspects for the design and construction of this +/- 125-ft tall, 2,800-ft long earthen embankment dam as part of the Richland Creek Water Supply Project. Due to the challenging geologic setting surrounding the dam and reservoir site, the geotechnical embankment design included a 2,100-ft long two-line grout curtain, a 1,260-ft long partial cutoff wall and a considerable seepage collection system.
During construction, PGC is providing project oversight, geotechnical engineering evaluation, and earthwork and construction materials quality control in accordance with the Georgia Safe Dams Program rules.
